For people who are not operating commercially. It free and that is what is great about using the local tip. And you do not really have to go germ skip when your waste is not much. In that case you can do, it yourself to save some capital.

RI Child Visitation – The Annual Feud Over Christmas Visitation

Will a Judge of The Rhode Island Family Court order that a child should wake up and open the Christmas presents every year on Christmas morning at the house where the child resides?


Almost every judge in Rhode Island Family Court believes that the partiesshould alternate Christmas evening / Christmas Morning Visitation so that both parents have the opportunity to enjoy the children on Christmas Evening and Christmas morning. The judges have heard the usual arguments a million times before.

The argument is as simple as: “The child should wake up in his or her house every year to open the presents on Christmas morning.”

However, Rhode Island Family Court Judges usually believe that both parents have parental rights and should be able to enjoy the child on such a special day The parent with physical custody/ physical placement does not automatically get to have the child on Christmas evening and Christmas morning!

If the parties cannot reach a settlement, the judge will normally order the following Schedule. The normal schedule for the Christmas Holiday is that one parent will have Christmas evening until between 11:00am to 2:00pm Christmas day and the other parent will have Christmas day from 11:00am to 2:00pm overnight on Christmas night. The partieswill alternate that schedule on a year to year basis.

Emotional arguments typically will not work in RI Family Court. There are hundreds of these disputes before the Rhode Island Family Court in a given year and Judges must be consistent and fair and must respect the parental rights of the non custodial parent (the parent with visitation rights).

(I have the word “visitation” because it suggests that the non custodial parent is a “visitor” in his/her child’s life. I prefer using “Parenting time”)

Don’t expect that your case will be different from the thousands of cases that come before the Family Court on this issue. Don’t waste too much money in Lawyers / Attorneys fees fighting about this issue since everyone knows the question and everyone knows the answer!

There is an argument that is made over and over again in Rhode Island Family Court which essentially opines that “young children” should be able to wake up at their house and open the presents at their house. To the people who make this argument “Their house” means the house of the parent who has physical custody/ physical placement of the minor child.

This doctrine is rejected by most Family Court Judges who see the issue as a matter of fairness to alternate the holiday. However, some judges may look sympathetically on this argument since Christmas is a very special moment for 4, 5, 6.and 7 year old children.

In the event that there is an existing order regarding Christmas visits then the party seeking to alter the visits must show a change in circumstances to change the designated schedule.

Of course this will not work with every wall. But if the wall is only a divider between two interior spaces just as divider and if privacy of either of the space is not an issue, then this technique can be use very effectively used.

Creating openings in the wall will immediately break down its volume and also add visual connection between the two spaces. The newly opening can be decorated using curtains too.

Some people believe that when the weather starts getting colder and the leaves start to fall, it is time to put away the gardening tools and wait until next spring to work on their garden again. Wrong.

Winter is an important time to maintain your garden’s health and assure yourself a good crop for next year. You may think that might take too long to prepare your garden, but the truth is that it takes less than one day to prepare your garden for the upcoming winter. Team-Building and Expectations – Mom's Scrambled Eggs

My mom's kitchen was off limits when I was growing up. Mom viewed the kitchen as her private domain; she did all the cooking for our family and yes, all the cleaning, too. A pretty good deal for me, my brother and my dad, you say? Yeah, mostly. But looking back, it would've been nice to have had cooking experience when I was young, rather than having to teach myself how to do it as an adult. But that's all hindsight, right? At the time, I was happy to have extra play time – and fortunately, I also really liked my mom's cooking (still do).

One of the things I recall in particular from Mom's cooking is the way she had with eggs. Scrambled, to be exact. Mom's eggs always came out firm, but never over cooked, with a slight fluffiness. Beside salt and pepper, her eggs always carried a taste of something else … some mystery spice. Now, of course, when I ask her about it, Mom says, "Oh, I do not know, I just played with them until they tasted right." Well let me tell you, as an adult, I spent years trying to recreate Mom's eggs in my own kitchen! I'd try butter; I'd try margarine. I'm try cooking on high heat; I'd try saute-ing on low heat. I'm trying adding salt and pepper in advance; I've tried adding the spices at the end. I'd try adding a dollop of milk; I'd try adding a teaspoon of water. And you know what? I was never get able to get my eggs just right, the way Mom made them. How frustrating!

It's funny how our experiences from childhood shape our ideas of what is "correct" and "right" – to the point where we can dismiss the beauty of what might be happening in the present. The fact is, my scrambled eggs these days are pretty darn good! Different from my mom's, to be sure, but equally tasty. I cook 'em slowly with olive oil, add a bit of milk, and inject a variety of spices that would likely shock my mother, including thyme, dill, garlic and onion powder, oregano and even a touch of cinnamon. They taste nothing like the eggs I grow up with, but they're mine – and even my wife likes them (or so she tells me).

It's all about expectations. When leading my corporate team building activities, I find it helpful to remember that people come in with a variety of pre-conceived notions. Perhaps they recall with fondness the particular type of scavenger hunts they did as children; sometimes they are expecting a familiar brand of treasure hunt clues, a customary level of competitiveness, or a remembered quality in the prizes. I think our job as facilitators of team building exercises is to remind participants to have an open mind to what's happening in the present.
